Dragonforce:  Inhuman Rampage

When you finish Guitar Hero III, you get to play a song during the credits.  The song is "Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce.  I had never heard of these guys before, but when you get to that point of the game, you are blown away by how frantic the guitars are.  What's even better is that the song is pretty cool, so it's not just a demo of how fast someone can strum the guitar.

After the game was released, I downloaded the song off of the Zune Market Place for a buck.  It's a great song, and after listening to the snippets of their other songs, I downloaded the entire album.  I later (that day) learned that their "Through the Fire and Flames" was the number one downloaded song on the web for that time.

This song shows a couple of things. It not only shows that this hyper metal is not a lost cause, but also shows how influential video games are in more than just one area of entertainment.

Guitar Hero is a great game, no doubt, and has shown that there's not only a huge market for these types of games, but that people still love rock.  With the releases of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, so many great oldies as well as recent groups have been given the spotlight, and people have responded.  Try to find Rock Band (with the drums, guitar, and mic), or Guitar Hero III (with the guitar) right now.  They are insanely popular.

So after hearing this song and downloading the whole album, I liked it enough to download the rest of their music as well.  It's entertaining, and these guys are certainly talented.  They're not the best, and definitely won't replace any of your favorites, but they are good, and I can respect their talents, that's for sure.  What they pull off with their guitars (and drums) is amazing, and the singer isn't too bad either.  Give them a listen and keep an open mind.  It's a little overwhelming at first, especially if you're expecting Barry Manilow or something. This won't put you to sleep.

Give 'em a listen:
